Fishing Shanties by River

These fishing shanties were built and used at one time for winter fishing. They probably were catching some salmon and steelhead. No one seems to know why they were abandoned and left to decay.

This shanty may still be used but you could tell by the "dead" boat in the background.
This fishing shanty was probably the best designed off all the abondoned ones I took photos of.  It clearly had style at one time.
This fishing shanty was probably the best preserved of all the abandoned ones.  Notice the sing in the window which states "FISHERMAN PARKING ONLY".
This fishing "shanty" was the last in a line of several fishing shelters along the Columbia river.  It would provide some protection waiting to catch a salmon on a poor weather day.
